You Dirty Dog is Spokane Valley's favorite low-stress grooming shop: women-owned and operated, and voted Gold Medal Winner in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Your pet is more than a pet. They're family, and when they're in our care, they're ours too. We know grooming can be stressful for both of you, so our award-winning team focuses on calm, kind handling and clear communication every step of the way.
First grooms, doodles, seniors, and nervous pets are our specialty. We're here for gentle first-groom experiences, honest talk about high-maintenance coats, and nail trims for anxious dogs and spicy cats.
To give you the best service and experience possible, we're always learning new techniques and sharpening our skills. We also keep sourcing the best products and upgrading our equipment and our shop.
Whether your pup needs a refreshing bath or a full makeover, you're choosing experience, care, and a little splash of fun.
No heat dryers, ever, and electric hydraulic tables for senior and injured pets.
Comfort beats the perfect cut. We never put a pet through painful de-matting.
Honest quotes and no surprise add-ons at checkout.
A locally owned shop run by women, proudly serving the Inland Northwest.
Decades of combined experience, and a whole lot of love for dogs and cats.

It depends on the breed and the type and length of the coat. We typically recommend every 4–6 weeks, and no longer than 8 weeks, for any breed that needs regular grooming. For example, a long-haired Shih Tzu kept in a longer coat (½" or more) should be groomed at least every 6 weeks.
Grooming visits don't replace regular brushing and maintenance at home.
At least once a month. Nail trims don't need an appointment, so just stop in during business hours.
Prices vary with your pet's size, temperament and behavior, coat condition, and the style and length of cut you want. Pets that are groomed regularly and are comfortable on the table are usually more affordable than pets that aren't used to grooming, are hard to handle, or have matted coats. See our services & pricing for starting prices.
This doesn't happen often. When it does, it's usually because something about the cut, the coat condition, your pet's size, behavior, or breed wasn't clear when we gave the quote. Those details all affect the price, so quotes given before grooming are starting estimates.
If you can pull a fine-toothed comb through your dog's coat from the skin to the tip of the hair with little resistance, there's no matting. Matting is when the hair is tangled so tightly it can't be combed out without severe pain.
We can't safely de-mat anything above stage 2, so your pup would need to be shaved down. Some groomers may be willing to de-mat, but we put humanity before vanity and don't offer that service. It's very painful, risky for both your pup and our staff, and above all traumatizing. Hair grows back much faster than you might think!
As soon as they've finished their vaccine series, usually around 12–16 weeks. We also recommend starting training at home right away: gently touch and hold your puppy all over, especially their feet and face, so they're comfortable with grooming and nail trims later on.
Never. We don't use heat fans for drying, which keeps pets from overheating. We also use electric hydraulic tables that make grooming easier and more comfortable for senior and injured pets.
Yes. We use a pet-friendly, super vibrant, semi-permanent vegan dye. We'll talk through the look you want and make sure your pet is comfortable throughout.
We're an in-shop salon, not a mobile service, but we do offer pickup and delivery. Call or text 509-534-4206 to set it up.
Yes! We offer early morning and late evening appointments until 8 PM, which is perfect if you work a 9-to-5.
Absolutely. First grooms, seniors, and nervous pets are our specialty. We go at your pet's pace and build confidence instead of fear. If a pet needs two team members for safe handling, a handling fee may apply, and we'll always tell you up front.
We accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Book online or call or text us. We'd love to meet your furry family member.
